Passive With Modals

“Must, should, ought to, will, have to, can, may, might…” gibi yardımcı fiillerin (modals)  bulunduğu cümleler yardımcı fiillerden sonra “be” ve fiilin üçüncü halinin kullanılması ile edilgen çatı haline getirilirler.

 v       A: Is that box going to be on my desk all day?[A1]   

 B: No. It will be removed by afternoon[A2] .                          

 v          They must count the plates[A3] .                   (etken)  

            The plates must be counted[A4]                 (edilgen)               

 v       You should open the window[A5] .                    (etken) 

        The window should be opened[A6] .          (edilgen)               

 v       We ought to warn him[A7] .                               (etken)

                He ought to be warned[A8] .                       (edilgen)     

 v       She had to be taken to hospital.[A9]
v       The match had better be delayed[A10] 

 v       He is supposed to be warned about his indiscipline.[A11] 

 v       The books will be translated.[A12] 

 v       Taner is going to be given a present[A13] 

 Past Modals

 v       The murderer should have been given life long prison.[A14] 

 v       The table must have been cleaned.[A15] 

 v       She can’t have been lied.[A16] 

 v       The school would have been completed.[A17]  (if Clause type 3)

 v       They might /may /could have been told the truth
